For many of us we are now into week 7 of working from home and how is it going for you?
For some of us this is the first time to be working remotely and it does come with challenges but here are our top tips to surviving working remotely during lockdown.
- Create a dedicated office space (if possible)
Where you can dedicate an area for work use and when you are done for the day, leave your work area – it will help keep a separation between Uir working life and personal life.
- Make sure you have what you need
Make sure your home setup is comfortable and fit for purpose including the right monitor, keyboard, mouse, chair, printer, software, VPN, WiFi….whatever you need to perform your job.
- Maintain your working hours schedule
Try and stick to your normal working hours – having clear guidelines for when to work and when to end your day can help maintain your work-life balance…it’s easy to get dragged in to work out of hours.
- Take a break
During your working day, take a break…looking at a screen for hours on end is not healthy or productive.
- Stay social with colleagues
Feeling isolated while working remotely can be expected but in the middle of a lockdown it is exacerbated. Stay in touch with colleagues, over communicate and use video calls whenever you can. Follow your business online so you can keep up to date with what is happening.
- Be kind to yourself
It is important to recognise how the current crisis may affect your mental health and its vital to take care of yourself and colleagues, be kind and remember this is temporary. If you do need support, just ask!
