There’s a few months remaining until Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system is no more. Once the 14 January 2020 deadline hits, businesses will be expected to have made the transition to Windows 10.
The process of migrating to Windows 10 needs planning and can take weeks’ worth of hard work so with time running out its vital businesses act sooner rather than later.
Some tips from us includes making sure you have the right team in place to oversee the migration. This is not an easy task and dependent on the size of your business will dictate the size of the delivery team you need to manage and deliver a successful migration. If you are an SME with no in house IT, outsource the task, you cannot afford to get this wrong.
Consider your migration options – whether it’s simply upgrading machines to Windows 10 through a software update or wiping existing systems and installing Windows 10 based on a pre-prepared image or what about just refreshing all your PCs.
Whatever migration option you go with make sure you test, test and test again. You need to make sure there aren’t any issues with compatibility. Effective testing means your business is prepared and there’s no surprises….and don’t stop testing after migration.
Finally, communicate with staff. Engage with your end-users, keep them updated and keep the channels of communication open to ensure a smooth transition to the new setup.
Just be prepared, plan, anticipate and deal with any issues that may arise and keep talking to staff.
