Move over Calibri here comes Aptos!
Microsoft 365’s All-New Default Office Theme Set to Debut Next Month!
Big changes are on the horizon as Fusion IT announces Microsoft’s plan to launch a new look for the default Office theme. This update will be available for all Microsoft 365 subscribers next month, aiming to make the Office suite easier to use and more modern.
The main change is the introduction of the Aptos font, which will replace the Calibri font in apps like Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel. Calibri has been around for over 15 years, so this new font, Aptos, will bring a fresh and contemporary feel to your favourite applications. This font change is accompanied by a new default style and colour palette for documents.
Colours in the Office suite are also getting a makeover. The familiar yellow colour is making way for a dark green shade, and one of the lighter blues will be swapped for a dark teal colour. These changes are aimed at making shapes and lines in Office documents stand out more clearly.
Word and Outlook, two important parts of the Office suite, are getting a facelift too. The default style will be tweaked to improve readability, look more professional, and make navigation easier. Jess Kwok, who oversees Microsoft 365 apps, explains that the goal is to make these applications more user-friendly.
After testing these updates with Microsoft 365 Insiders since July, Microsoft is now getting ready to roll them out to all users starting in September. Get ready for a fresh new Office experience!
Thanks
Richard
PS – For those who have a preference for the previous Office theme, it’s still available under the name “Office Theme 2013 – 2022.” If you’re looking for different fonts, Microsoft provides a broad range of options within Microsoft 365, catering to various needs and personal preferences.
