A Challenging Day at Oulton Park – The Unpredictability of Motorsport.
Motorsport enthusiasts know that the world of racing is filled with exhilarating highs and devastating lows. Such was the case at Oulton Park last Saturday (27th May), where the FormEvo Clark Racing team encountered an unexpected car accident during the BritCar Endurance qualifying that left our vehicle severely damaged, preventing us from competing in both races.
So what happened?
Our driver, Simon Clark, buoyed by an impressive performance during early practice, approached the qualifying session with unwavering confidence. However, his hopes for continued success came crashing down in a sudden turn of events. Braking hard into Shell Oils, a tightly banked right-hand hairpin, the front axle unexpectedly locked up, causing the car to veer onto the wet grass and collide head-on with the barrier. Astonishingly, the impact propelled the vehicle five feet into the air, leaving spectators, including our suite, in a state of tension and concern. Fortunately, we received reassuring messages that Simon had been taken to the medical center without sustaining any injuries. Regrettably, the same cannot be said for the ill-fated car, which suffered significant damage.
What ensued was an invaluable experience in dedication, perseverance, and unwavering determination as the race team embarked on repairing the car. Under the scorching sun, they toiled relentlessly, striving to mend the car in time for the 11:30AM race, and if not possible, for the 5pm race. Regrettably, fate had other plans, and Simon had to forgo participation in both races. Although it wasn’t the racing extravaganza we had envisioned, the pleasant weather and warm hospitality turned it into a satisfying day nonetheless.

Despite the disappointing turn of events, we extend our sincere appreciation to the circuit marshals, medics, and the FormEvo Clark Racing team who demonstrated extraordinary resilience. Their herculean efforts to overcome the unexpected hurdles were truly commendable. The determination and teamwork displayed in the face of adversity remind us why we are proud to work alongside such talented individuals.

As the saying goes, racing at the highest level pushes us to our absolute limits. However, it is crucial to remember that setbacks often provide valuable lessons. Their unwavering support has undoubtedly strengthened our resolve to bounce back and reclaim our championship campaign.
