There are many different ways to search for a Client/ Matter, searches can be carried out by using Contact Manager or by searching with the Client Information or Matter Information screens.
Contact Manager
To search for a Contact, select Contact in the Search For field.
Enter part of the name in the Contact Name field and click the Search button. If 50 records have been returned, change the Max Returned Records field to 0 (zero) and click Search again. If a large number of records have been returned you can enter additional criteria in the Quick Search field. When the correct record has been found, click the Select button.
If you want to search for a Client or Matter, repeat the steps listed above but remember to change the Search For field to Client or Matter.
Matter Centre toolbar
To search for a Client, click Client Information. If you’ve viewed the Client record recently you may notice the name in the Last 10 area on the left hand side of the screen – if the name is listed in this section, click to select it and then click the Proceed button at the top right of the screen.
If this is not the correct Client, click the Find button and search for them by entering the surname only into the Client Name field. Remember to reduce the Max No of Records to 0 (zero) if there are more than 50 matches. If a large number of matches have been found you could reduce them by entering part of the address into the Address field (only enter part of the address e.g. for a client who lives at 1 New Street just enter 1 New).
To search for a Matter click the Matter Information icon. If you’ve viewed the Matter recently you may notice the name in the Last 10 area on the left hand side of the screen – if the name is listed in this section, click to select it and then click the Proceed button at the top right of the screen. If the Matter is not displayed in the Last 10 section, click the Find button to search for it.
The Matter Criteria section can be used to filter the search results by Department or Matter Type. If a large number of matches have been found you can also enter a Client Name on the left hand side of the screen.
If you know the Client or Matter number you can also use this to search for a record.
When the Client is displayed on screen, click the Proceed button.
