One of the most frustrating things about Windows 8 is that the Search and Run boxes seem to have disappeared. They are still there but hidden.
To quickly access the Search box just start typing whilst the Start screen is displayed.
To quickly display the Run box, hold down the Windows button on the keyboard whilst pressing R at the same time or you can type Run whilst looking at the Start screen followed by the Enter key.
