If you have a smart phone running Android 2.2 or later, a Windows phone or an iPhone you can use your phone to create a Wi-Fi hotspot that can provide an Internet service for up to 5 Wi-Fi enabled devices. From the phone’s Home screen, tap the Menu button to get to the Settings screen. In the Settings menu tap Wireless & networks (this will be called Internet sharing on a Windows phone and Personal Hotspot on an iPhone) – you should now see an option that says Portable Wi-Fi hotspot or ‘Tethering’. Click on the box next to this option to turn on tethering – this will activate your Wi-Fi hotspot, which will be password protected. This hotspot should now show up on the device you want to use Wi-Fi on, select and connect to the hotspot and enter the password from your phone when prompted. Please remember to check with your phone provider though as most providers charge an additional amount for tethering and tethering can use up your data usage quickly.
