Wi-Fi waves are similar to those from a radio, TV or mobile. However, they are much smaller and therefore their signal gets weaker the further away from the router you are. Wi-Fi waves get blocked by walls and metal surfaces easily so the way you position your router can have a huge effect on the strength. Here are 4 tips to faster Wi-Fi.
Place router central –
Most of the time signals become weakened due to walls or obstructions so hiding your router in a cupboard won’t help this. Put the router in a central position of the home to broadcast the signal out in equal strengths.
Elevate the router –
Most signals naturally reflect downwards. They also struggle to penetrate materials on the floor such as laminate and cement. Lifting the router to a higher surface can make a huge difference.
Keep away from electronics –
Putting the router near the TV or radio can cause interference and affect the router strength.
Measure signal strength –
There are plenty of mobile apps and websites that help you to measure the performance of your Wi-Fi. These can be great for keeping your signal consistently strong.
