So, the iPad was released a few months ago amidst a massive marketing campaign and Apple did a fantastic job of almost brainwashing the world with it’s media onslaught. I must admit that I got caught up in all the hype and did my very best to keep a level head and avoid getting one just because Apple made me think that I needed one.
However, a month ago curiosity got the better of me and I buckled, curious and excited I handed over my cash and started playing with my shiny new gadget.
So, is it any good? Well, the short answer is “Yes”. Whilst it is not a replacement for a laptop I would also say that a laptop would not be a replacement for an iPad. There are many things that each can do that the other can’t. For someone who only surfs the internet and uses email then this is so much nicer to use than a laptop. It also has some very useful applications for IT professionals and is a great business tool in that respect.
It’s also a wonderful entertainment centre with many games, puzzles and books all available on the App Store.
For me the iPad is not an essential thing in my life although it is a very welcome addition. In fact, this article was written on my iPad.
